Where were these folks during my college years when I could very much have used their sandwich-esc source of greasy goodness? Aptly named after the item you’ll most definitely need – napkins – this roving food truck is dishing up a gluten free twist on sandwiches that’s been known to make grown women groan.

The Napkin Friends’ ‘sandwiches’ swap ho-hum bread for latkes, a shredded potato fried pancake. Seasoned liberally, they have a crisp crust and a slightly tender center. They come filled with a variety of combinations.

Napkin Friends-3The Classic Combo was interesting ($10). It’s stuffed with a honey crisp apple, caramelized onions and brie. Apples, brie and a little fried potato? I was sold and it was good. However, it didn’t hold a candle to the B.L.T.G.A. ($10). The flavor explosion of bacon, tomato, smoked gouda, avocado and Peppadew aioli is the kind of meal that makes you want to lounge around naked all afternoon.

Which is to say, these sandwiches are not for the faint of heart. They’re not for the dainty eater. They’re heavy. They’re hearty. I want another.
